Logwin expands fashion logistics facilities in Vietnam as demand soars - 23.02.2011

Logwin is well positioned to benefit from a sustained export boom in Vietnam driven by a growing garment manufacturing sector and a dramatic increase in international airfreight and ocean services.

Logwin, a provider of global logistics services, handled close to 75,000 cbm of garments and shoes at its warehouses in Vietnam during 2010 and is forecasting a further increase in its import and export business this year.

Logwin offers international air and ocean freight forwarding services as well as warehousing and distribution. To meet growing demand from garment and shoes manufacturers for freight and logistics services across Vietnam, Logwin is now expanding its facilities in the country. The warehouse and consolidation centre in Hanoi was extended to 2,000 sqm from 1,000 sqm while Logwin has also more than doubled capacity to 2,000 sqm at its Container-Freight Station (CFS) operations in Haiphong.

In 2011, Logwin in Ho Chi Minh City will move into a new enlarged warehouse CFS facility which has a state-of-the-art racking system and doubles storage capacity to 1,000 pallet positions.

"We see many opportunities to develop our fashion logistics business in Vietnam as our global brand named clients are increasing the volume and range of garments they source from the country. Through our global freight forwarding network we can deliver a full range of air and ocean services connecting our customers in Vietnam to markets worldwide," said Maik Juengst, Country Director of Logwin in Vietnam.

Logwin has strategically located facilities in the North, Central and South of Vietnam close to the major manufacturing centres where the customers are based. Logwin's services at its Vietnam facilities include storage, sorting, price tagging, export consolidation, sample taking, and quality inspections.

Vietnam's import and export volumes are forecast to grow by 20 per cent in 2011. During the last decade container volumes have also surged by between 20 per cent and 25 per cent a year as a result of the country's vibrant economy.

The volume of cargo on international flights in and out of Vietnam last year increased 37 per cent from 2009 to 340,000 tons according to Vietnam's Civil Aviation Authority. There are also an estimated 27 new shipping services launching into Vietnam in 2011 as new port projects are completed.
