Felixstowe, Britain's biggest container port, has gained Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Company's Lion Service with the call of the 14,000-TEU MSC Livorno in July.

Hong Kong's Hutchison Ports UK CEO David Gledhill said the addition of the Lion service to the Felixstowe roster is "a great vote of confidence for the port."

"With our new berths in their final phases of testing, and due to come online later this year, we will have additional capacity for these ultra-large ships."

The Lion service port rotation is Qingdao, Busan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Guangzhou-Nansha, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Yantian, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Sines, Le Havre, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Felixstowe, GioiaTauro, Singapore, Shenzhen-Chiwan, and Hong Kong, the Shipping Gazette informs.
