Bharati plans more shipyards in W. Bengal - 21.02.2011

MR Vijay Kumar, Managing Director of Bharati Shipyard, has said that his company has plans to establish more shipyards on the East Coast of India, according to Exim News Service.

At present, Bharati has six shipyards, of which five are on the West Coast and one on the East Coast.

Mr Kumar affirmed his company's eagerness to launch the proposed shipyards in West Bengal and Orissa if land was made available for them.

For quite sometime now, Bharati and Apeejay Shipping have been planning to construct two modern shipbuilding facilities on the East Coast.

Mr Kumar was addressing a function held here for the delivery of two new ships, Emssun and Emssky, built at the company's Kolkata yard. A Dutch-German firm took delivery of the vessels for operation in the Baltic.

"This is for the first time vessels constructed in eastern India are being exported to Europe," Mr Kumar highlighted.
