Alstom and Vossloh Kiepe to supply 50 tramways in Germany - 26.05.2011

German rail operator, Üstra Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe has awarded a €126m contract to Vossloh Kiepe and Alstom to supply 50 tramways to be used in Hannover, Germany, according to Railway Technology.com.

The contract includes an option to supply 96 additional tramways, representing 288 additional bogies.

The tramways will offer 15% energy savings due to efficient recovery of energy and lighter weight of the vehicles.

The bogies will be manufactured at Alstom's facility in Salzgitter, Germany, and the vehicles will be manufactured in Düsseldorf and Leipzig (Germany), before entering into service in 2013.

The vehicles will be equipped with one trailer bogie and two motor bogies.

Alstom's share in the contract is about €21m for the delivery of 150 bogies.
