Bombardier Transportation has won a €128m order from Italian railway operator Trenitalia to supply an additional 50 E464 electric locomotives, Railway Technology reports.
The new order is the result of Trenitalia exercising an option to the contract signed in 2009 for the supply of 100 electric locomotives.
The new order increases Trenitalia's electric locomotives order to 688 E464 locomotives, out of which 570 are already in operation.
The E464 locomotives have a maximum power of 3.5MW and a top speed of 160km/h.
Delivery of the locomotives is scheduled between 2012 and 2013.
