Siemens to supply 300 high-speed trains Deutsche Bahn - 28.04.2011

German government-owned national railway Deutsche Bahn has approved an order for high-speed trains from Siemens worth over 7bn ($10.2bn).

Under the contract, Siemens will supply 300 high-speed ICx trains to Deutsche Bahn by 2030.

Deutsche Bahn will take delivery of 130 trains in first tranche, another 90 trains in a second tranche and access the remaining 80 trains at any time, the company said.

The order has been delayed by difficult negotiations and disagreements over fittings and the price since June 2010.

The first of the trains will enter into service in late 2016, Railway Technology reports.
