Brazil to invest in railroad sector - 21.04.2011
Brazil's transport infrastructure department will allocate about R$596m ($314m) for the railroad sector by the end of this year, according to Railway Technology. The highest amount of R$206m ($130.8m) has been earmarked for the state of São Paulo, followed by the north-eastern state of Bahia receiving R$163m ($103.5m). The south-eastern states of Minas Gerais will get R$82.9m ($52.6m) and Rio de Janeiro will receive R$40m ($25.4m) while Santa Catarina will get R$30.2m ($19m). About R$25m ($15.8m) will be earmarked for rail projects in the mid-western state of Mato Grosso do Sul with Paraná due to be allocated R$14.4m ($9m).
