US company Wabtec Corporation has acquired Brush Traction Group at a cost of $31m to expand its locomotive servicing capability in the UK, Railway Technology reports.

The acquisition will compliment Wabtec's existing rolling stock overhaul business based in Doncaster, UK.

Wabtec Corporation is a provider of technology-based products and services for rail and other industrial markets.

Brush Traction Group is a provider of locomotive overhauls, services and aftermarket components, and has annual sales of about $55m.

Wabtec expects the transaction to be accretive in the first year.
