Kandla Port to boost capacity - 10.05.2011

Kandla Port is gearing up to augment its cargo handling capacity to 125 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), from 85 mtpa at present, in two to three years.

According to Mr M.A. Bhaskarachar, Deputy Chairman of the Kandla Port Trust (KPT), work on seven projects is in various stages of implementation and formulation.

By 2011-12 end, KPT is also gearing up to implement projects such as: the setting up of a single point mooring and allied facilities off Veera in the Gulf of Kutch, barge handling facilities at Bunder Basin on BOT basis, mechanisation of dry cargo berths.
